Epitalon, also referenced in the literature as Epithalon and as the Khavinson tetrapeptide AEDG, is a synthetic four-amino-acid bioregulator with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. It is supplied as an investigational laboratory peptide for use in pineal-tropic signaling research, telomere-biology research, and gene-expression studies on age-related cellular models.

Laboratory research studies have positioned Epitalon as a reference compound for examining how short pineal-derived peptides influence telomerase activity and the proliferative potential of somatic cells. Early experiments by the Khavinson group reported induction of the human telomerase catalytic subunit (hTERT) and telomere elongation in cultured fibroblasts, extending replicative lifespan beyond the conventional Hayflick limit (Khavinson et al., 2003, Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine).

Beyond telomere biology, Epitalon is investigated in cellular and animal research models exploring pineal-tropic gene expression, melatonin-pathway signaling, circadian-rhythm research, antioxidant enzyme regulation, and age-related neuroendocrine adaptation. The peptide is one of the most studied compounds within the Khavinson school of biogerontology research at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, where it serves as a model bioregulator for short-peptide research on cellular longevity.

The peptide is supplied as a lyophilized powder to ensure optimal stability during storage and handling.
